A Note from Jill

Woman in Ministry - Jill shares her heart for women in ministry.

Dear Women in Ministry,

I have a concern – a heart concern.  It is this: that a woman in ministry often finds her position a burden rather than a blessing.  I have a dream – a heart dream.  It is this: that a woman in the church finds joy in serving Jesus in the unique role she holds in trust.  I have a prayer – a heart prayer that you feel the same!

So “Just Between Us,” I am very excited!  My name is Jill Briscoe.  I am 73 years of age and with my husband, Stuart, have had ten years in para-church youth ministry in Europe and thirty years in a pastorate in the United States.  In addition, I’ve been able to travel to the four corners of the globe and meet “our kind” – women of faith and servitude – from every culture, clime, and nation.  All over the world, I have come across the same basic needs, heard the same basic questions, and had the same basic problems presented to me.  The only differences have been the color of the skin or the fashion of the dress.

So we have a tool – small, yes, but so were the five loaves and two fishes – written by very ordinary women (but then we have a great big extra-ordinary God living inside of us) and incorporating resources that we all need to marry our privilege to joy.

Through the pages of Just Between Us magazine and our website we’ll try to incorporate observations about our particular sphere of service written by the greatest variety of women we can find.  We seek sound interpretation of Scriptural principles that will encourage us, submitted by wise women of the Word – professionals and lay.  We strive for application of truth that meets us right where we are, and inspiration that will lift and renew our spirits.

We will seek to be practical – passing along workable ideas for church and para-church ministries.  We will endeavor to be provocative – stretching our minds a little to listen to different voices on current pertinent issues.  We’ll be there for you to answer your questions and to find a friend in need and indeed!

I have a concern, I have a dream, and I have a prayer.  Is there anyone else out there who feels the same?  If so, we invite you to join the Just Between Us family of faith and encouragement, as a subscriber, a contributor, website visitor, or casual reader.  Let us lift and learn from one another as a community of women with a heart for ministry!
