Finding out a child, spouse, relative, friend, or coworker is homosexual can be difficult news. You’re hit with a complex combination of emotions – grief, shame, fear, guilt, disbelief. You’re often left struggling with questions like why and now what. You’re left wondering how you should respond as a Christian. At the same time, someone you care deeply about may be awaiting your response. What should you say? What shouldn’t you say? How should you interact?

The following resources are compiled to help you answer some of these questions and more, and guide you as you love the gays and/or lesbians in your life in a Christ-like way.

Out of a Far Country – A Gay Son’s Journey to God.  A Broken Mother’s Search for Hope by Christopher Yuan & Angela Yuan

Christopher Yuan, the son of Chinese immigrants, discovered at an early age that he was different. He was attracted to other boys. As he grew into adulthood, his mother, Angela, hoped to control the situation. Instead, she found that her son and her life were spiraling out of control – and her own personal demons were determined to defeat her.

Years of heartbreak, confusion, and prayer followed before the Yuans found a place of complete surrender, which is God’s desire for all families. Their amazing story, told from the perspectives of both mother and son, offers hope for anyone affected by homosexuality.

Called Out – A Former Lesbian’s Discovery of Freedom by Janet Boynes

Janet Boynes leads readers through her inspiring testimony from the trauma and pain she suffered during her 14 years as a lesbian, to her deliverance from homosexuality, and her glorious return to God.

As a woman who dealt with homosexuality on a personal basis, Janet addresses the controversial subject with remarkable candor and sensitivity, and presents the truth with a message of hope. This book is highly recommended for anyone who knows or is related to a member of the homosexual community and desires to love them as Christ does.

Janet Boynes Ministries (JBM)

Janet Boynes Ministries (JBM) was founded when the CEO and founder, Janet Boynes, felt God’s call on her life to help those who are trapped in the sin of homosexuality and yearn to be set free. She sees this as a “holy calling” (2 Timothy 1:9) and has also been led to reach those who struggle with same-sex desires and gender identity dysphoria. God further laid it on Janet’s heart, and with great urgency, to equip the body of Jesus Christ with the necessary information and skills that will help them address these controversial issues that are impacting the Christian church today.
