Terry Powell

Dr. Terry Powell is Faculty Emeritus at Columbia International University, in S. C., where he is an Adjunct Professor in Church Ministries. Dr. Powell writes a blog on faith and depression: penetratingthedarkness.com and published his latest book Oh God, I'm Dying! How God Redeems Pain for Our Good and for His Glory. He has been married for 49 years and has 2 sons, a daughter-in-law and a grandson.

Here is what Dr. Powell says about his own battle with depression: "God’s grace has been especially evident in my life through repeated bouts of depression. When medical intervention has not worked, my faith in God’s character and God’s promises has sustained me, and I am still learning that God’s power is perfected in weakness (2 Cor 12:9). I have discovered the truth of what another depression-prone leader wrote years ago: “God gets from us most glory when we get from Him much grace” (Charles Spurgeon).

"Though I dwell in darkness, the Lord is a light for me." (Micah 7:8 NASB)

One of the unique things about the ministry of Just Between Us is that we are reader-written ministry. Women from all over the world, who have a heart to walk alongside women to encourage, inspire, comfort, help, and bring hope through the power of God's Word, share their writing gifts with this ministry. They are women just like you, coming from all ages and stages of life─single women, married women, joyful women, hurting women, and everything in between. Our authors are women who don't want you to feel alone, so they put their hearts out there, so you will have those "me too" moments and feel like you have made a new friend. Somehow now your faith journey doesn't seem so hard, so overwhelming. You will find an incredible sisterhood waiting for you as our authors share their hearts...and leave every article  saying, "Someone understands me and my heart. Someone gets what I'm going through." And they do!
